Editorial Policy
Read the standards used to plan, write, review, source, update, and correct educational content on SouthWest Orthopaedics.
Purpose And Scope
Our editorial goal is to explain musculoskeletal and orthopedic health topics in a way that is useful, cautious, and understandable to a general audience.
Source Selection
Priority is given to established medical organizations, government health agencies, professional societies, peer-reviewed research, and other reputable sources appropriate to the topic.
Writing Standards
Headlines and sections are written in clear Title Case. Articles distinguish general education from individualized medical advice and avoid guarantees, sensational claims, or unsupported treatment promises.
Updates And Corrections
Pages may be revised when better sources become available, recommendations change, or a factual issue is identified. Material corrections should improve the page rather than quietly preserve known errors.
Conflicts And Commercial Influence
Educational conclusions should not be changed simply to benefit an advertiser, affiliate, or unrelated commercial partner. Any future sponsorship should be clearly separated from editorial content.
